  • Coming Out Day Celebration

National Coming Out Day was celebrated October 9th here in Fresno. It was celebrated on the front plaza
of our own City Hall. This is the second year we’ve celebrated NCOD there. It seems only right to hold the
venue there since last year Mayor Autry used the plaza to discriminate against our brothers and sisters in
the LGBT community. What better place to have our very own celebration?

  • Second Suspicious Fire on Maroa

The closed Dance nightclub was the scene of an early morning fire on Oct. 1st.

A Fresno fire investigator said the exterior of the building was involved. He added that an investigation into whether this latest fire is tied to Monday morning's fire at the North Tower Circle is underway.

Dance has been closed since the end of June. The club was shuttered after Fresno police filed accusations with the state Alcoholic Beverage Control agency that owners Jose Lopez and Herb Fisher had failed to "abate objectionable conditions" there. The allegations were leveled a few days after a fatal shooting in a nearby parking lot Memorial Day weekend.
Fisher moved his Fresno Express bar to the Maroa building four years ago. He then changed the format from gay to straight in 2003. He later sold majority ownership of the club to Lopez.
