    We as youth these days are scared of rejection, not getting accepted for who we are. We feel like we have to live up to societies standards. We have to act, dress, be a certain way to feel accepted. So when we have a different sexual preference we don’t know to tell someone. Its easier for us to tell our friends because its not a big deal, they can either accept us for who we are or not and if they choose not to we can find other friends.

Focus Group Participants Wanted E-mail

The African American HIV Prevention Capacity Building Project, funded by the California State Office Of AIDS, is seeking volunteers to participate in focus groups. The focus groups are aimed at African American MSM (men having sex with men) age 25 and older, and African American women at high risk for contracting HIV who are 21 and older.

 

Participants will be given a meal and a $25 American Express gift card. The purpose of the focus groups is to learn where African American high-risk women and African American MSM are accessing HIV primary and secondary services, how they are accessing the services, identify any gaps in services and whether or not their feel the services are culturally competent and appropriate. Adoption Agency Pioneers for Gay Couples E-mail

When the words “Gay and Adoption” are brought into one sentence, what comes to your mind? Do you find yourself burdened with the memories and battles of gay activism? Or do you picture yourself battling a panel of social workers before a court defending your right to have children? Well it’s not as difficult as you might think; one local agency (Families First) aims to be the local pioneer encouraging the LGBTQ community in adopting children. The agency’s local office handles cases in the central valley's tri-county area.
