New York's First Married Gay/Lesbian Couples Say “Happy Anniversary”

A year later, Carol Anastasio and Mimi Brown still sound like lovestruck newlyweds.

“We’re more in love now than we were before,” said Anastasio, 50. She and her partner were among the first gay couples to wed in New York last July.

The lower East Side pair had been together more than 20 years before getting the chance to tie the knot in a journey chronicled by the Daily News.
